Three days to discover the southern Drôme, marvels of medieval architecture, a city of art and a castle to sleep in. To get there, nature is impressive. Passes winding through the Baronnies massif, the bed of the Eygues flown over by griffon and griffon vultures, the clatter of the Claps, a whole wilderness that welcomes you. And, of course, some Nyons olive oil, another treat for the taste buds. The return to Esprit M will take us one last time on the Drôme river, before a final climb up the Vercors to return to civilization, with Crussol and its ruins in our sights, a final drink in the bar and then the TGV...
After breakfast at L'Esprit M, we'll head to Crest to visit its tower, the highest keep in France. Your climbing efforts will be rewarded by a magnificent view over the whole valley (optional). Your efforts will be rewarded by a delicious restaurant at the foot of the 3 Becs. The passage to the Baronnies is not far off, as a superb road takes us through a narrow passage before we head for a well-deserved rest in the grounds of Grignan.
The choice is yours today: a visit to Nyons to see the oil being made, or a long day's ride to the edge of the Drôme, the Claps, which marks the end of the mountain and which, once crossed, takes us into the Hautes-Alpes. Don't worry, we'll be able to cut the trip short if we get too tired... fun without risk!
Leaving Grignan for a bit of history and legends. The druidic Val des nymphes with its preserved chapel, the abbey of Aiguebelle, its monks, its syrups and its Aelred dissidents, and finally the mysterious ruins of the priory of Aleyrac and its "brunette"... Back to the modern world, let's cross the borders of the baronnies by the hidden pass behind the superb village of Saou and set off for a final climb in the foothills of the Vercors. Let's take a few moments before descending to Eprit M to admire, not far from the guide's future home, the Rhône valley stretching as far as the eye can see.
